Grass fed the best choice?

You might have been hearing a lot lately about grass fed beef and why it is the best choice when it comes to beef. We live in the day and age when everyone wants to eat healthier. The truth

The truth is that there have been several studies that indicate that grass fed beef is the best choice out there for fertility. The studies show that cows who are allowed to roam around wherever they want, and eat whatever grasses they want are healthier overall than cows who are raised on a feedlot.

Omega 3 fatty acids

When it comes to Omega 3 Fatty Acids, grass fed beef has been shown to contain TWICE the amount that grain fed beef does. Omega 3 Fatty Acids are essential to good health, and essential to optimum fertility. Omega 3’s contain two important acids: DHA and EPA. DHA is essential to proper brain development in babies, and EPA is important for behavior and mood. Omega 3’s help with fertility because they help the body to regulate hormones, improve the production of cervical mucus in the body, and promote regular ovulation.

Antioxidants

Antioxidants are an important part of fertility because they protect all of our body cells from damage done by free radicals. Getting enough antioxidants can suppress the “bad genes” that trigger auto immune problems. Grass fed beef contains more antioxidants than any other type of beef. Getting enough antioxidants can help with fertility by reducing antisperm antibodies and endometriosis, among other autoimmune issues.

Xenohormones

Xenohormones are synthetic hormones which mimic our body’s natural hormones. Too many xenohormones can cause our bodies to develop a hormonal imbalance. These hormonal imbalances can really wreak havoc on the reproductive system, and can even lead to infertility. Grass fed beef is a better choice if you are trying to avoid xenohormones, because the cows are less likely to have been exposed to toxins.

Antibiotics

The truth is, non organic cows are usually raised in very unsanitary conditions, and can even have diseases or be raised with other cows who have diseases. For this reason, they are often treated with large doses of antibiotics, which is transferred into the food you eat. These antibiotics can decrease our immunity to diseases, and cause fertility issues. This is why eating grass fed/organic beef is a much better choice.
