Watch Your Weight

Make sure that you are at an ideal weight before you are trying to conceive. If you are underweight or overweight, it can throw your hormones out of whack and make it much more difficult to get pregnant. If you have extra weight to lose, go ahead and try to do it before you begin actively trying to conceive.

Take a Vitamin

Taking a good quality prenatal vitamin is very important before trying to conceive. If you get your body used to taking a vitamin before you get pregnant, your unborn baby will already be protected from many neural tube defects and other problems just for the simple fact that you are already taking a vitamin.

Quit Bad Habits

Alcohol does not cause any good to the body. The devastating effects of alcohol on fertility are great but other people seem to just ignore them. Even moderate alcohol consumption can hurt fertility. This does not just apply to women but to both men and women alike. Studies show that men who drink alcohol often have low semen analysis scores.

Also, Experts say that women who are smokers don’t conceive as efficiently as non-smokers. Additionally, infertility rates in both men and women smokers are twice the rate of infertility found in non-smokers. Additionally, we all know junk foods are not healthy at all. However, most of us still get easily tempted by it. Overeating and junk foods are unhealthy and can sometimes affect our fertility. As per the men, a healthy diet is beneficial for semen quality. A healthy diet composed of a higher intake of fish, fresh fruit, whole grains, legumes, and vegetables seems to improve sperm motility.

Track Your Ovulation

Before you get pregnant, go ahead and try to start tracking your ovulation. There are only a few short days that women can get pregnant each month, so if you go ahead and start taking an ovulation predictor test, learn to chart your basal body temperature or track your cervical mucus, you will already be one step ahead of the game.

Avoid unhelpful meds

There are many medicines that are just simply not helpful when trying to conceive. From cold medicines that dry up your cervical mucus to powerful medications that can cause serious birth defects, be mindful what you are putting into your body. Some medications even can cause false positive pregnancy tests!
