Many times, especially with your first baby, it is very common to go over your due date. So, if you do, don’t stress, just find some fun and unique ways to celebrate your due date! It marks the end of an era, the end of a long journey of waiting, so it is a perfect time to celebrate!
If you are approaching your due date and your baby still isn’t here, you might want to consider going on a babymoon. A babymoon is a short vacation before the birth of your baby. It doesn’t have to be extravagant, maybe just a couple of nights in a hotel. Sleep in a comfy bed, take a bath in a huge tub, and just enjoy being with your partner. It will be the most peace you will have for awhile, so take advantage of it, especially sleeping in!
Treat yourself to a spa day as celebration of your due date! A massage, manicure, pedicure and hair appointment can really do you a lot of good as you near the end of your pregnancy. You are most likely pretty uncomfortable as you reach your due date, so taking a day to yourself can make you feel rested and relaxed again. Added bonus? You’ll look great for your upcoming delivery!
Go on a special date with your partner. It might be the last time you truly get to enjoy spending a night “out on the town,” so enjoy it! Eat dinner at a fancy restaurant, go to a concert or movie, and just spend some time “out and about.” Chances are, you won’t feel like it once your baby arrives.
If you have other children, or family that you won’t get to be spending as much time with once your new little one arrives, you might opt to have a family day on your due date. This could be anything from a family bbq, a day at the park, or a pool party. Whatever you would enjoy, with the people you would most enjoy it with, is a great plan for celebrating your due date.
If you are nearing your due date and still can’t get your “nesting” bug out of your system, a great due date celebration would be hiring a maid service to get your house in order once and for all. My friends got together and hired a maid service and carpet cleaning appointment for me the week of my due date, since they knew how stressed I was that my house wasn’t in order as I neared the day of my baby’s birth! What a celebration a clean house can be!
