Cut down on alcohol

Cut out alcohol consumption, or at least cut back to a minimum. Studies have shown that alcohol consumption can cause defective sperm.

No recreational drugs

Cut the recreational drugs. A wide number of studies have proven that recreational drugs have a big negative impact on the reproductive system all together. Low sperm count, low quality sperm, defective sperm, the list goes on!

Quit smoking

Eliminate or limit your smoking tobacco products. One study has linked smoking with low sperm count. So it’s time to quit smoking!

After these have been cut out allow a couple of months before you take any other steps. When you have decided it is time to take another step forward try easing in the higher vitamins. You can use supplements or you can eat foods that are high in these vitamins. Below is a list of the best vitamins for male fertility and how they help.

Vitamin B-12

This is one of the most vital fertility vitamins for male fertility. This is very effective when trying to improve the speed of the sperm; this can also be used in order to prevent defective sperm. Healthy, quick sperm generally equals a better chance of conception.

Vitamin E

This antioxidant is used to improve the overall health of the sperm. This can generally be used with Vitamin C to make your chances higher of conception.

Zinc

This can be very vital even if you are not trying to conceive. In the male body the place that contains the most zinc is the prostate gland and the sperm itself. If you are suffering from zinc deficiency it could impact the amount of sperm, the health of the sperm, and how quickly they move. Keeping your zinc levels up will improve that and the overall health of the sperm.

Omega fatty acids

Omega 3 and 6 acids can help to improve the sperm itself which in turn helps the fertility issue.

L-Carnitine

Typically L-Carnitine made naturally in the body and allows things to function properly. However, if you are low on this it cannot help you. If you use a supplement it will help the overall function of the sperm.

It is important to take care of your body from the outside as much as it is from the inside. Treat your body right, give it all the proper vitamins and nutrients that it needs to function properly. If you have done all of these things and you are still experiencing problems please speak with your doctor about what could be done next to improve your chances of conceiving. There may be another underlying condition that needs to be treated as well.
