You have probably heard this one before. Lie flat on your back after intercourse, and prop your legs up to about a thirty degree angle. While it probably won’t make too much of a difference, this can help the sperm reach the egg more easily since they will just kind of “flow” to the right place and won’t have to “swim upstream” so to speak. Try to remain still for around 30 minutes after sex for best results. I put great stock in this method, helping me conceive my babies! It won’t hurt to try it.
While this one is definitely easier said than done, if you can avoid stress, it will improve your chances of getting pregnant. Try not to worry or stress about whether or not you are pregnant, since worrying about it won’t change anything anyway, and can really hurt your chances. Keeping stress at a minimum is a very important thing to remember.
Try to wait at least twenty minutes or so before running to the bathroom. Spend that twenty minutes with your legs elevated and a pillow underneath you. However, don’t wait more than around twenty or thirty minutes before going to the bathroom, or you could cause yourself to get a UTI.
While I have never heard of this being recommended by a doctor, a lot of women talk about using Softcups after intercourse. Softcups are internal cups that you can insert into the vagina to keep the sperm near the cervix and keep it from leaking out. Some women swear by this method, but there is no scientific proof that it works.
Bottom line? Truly, there is not really much that you can do after sex to ensure that you will get pregnant. While every woman wishes there were some super top secret rule that you could follow after sex to get pregnant, that is just not the case. The best advice is to relax, take it easy, and hope for the best.
