A double whammy

Today Show co-host Savannah Guthrie gave Today Show viewers a double bombshell when they tuned in on Monday, March 17. However, that wasn’t the only surprise in store- Savannah also revealed that she is four months pregnant. How’s that for news? Claim Your 20 Free Pregnancy Tests – Click Here

No rush for the altar

Savannah and Mike have been together for four years, and got engaged back in May of 2013.

“No one will accuse us of rushing into anything”

she joked at the time, poking fun at how long it took for the couple to get engaged. The couple met back in 2008, when Savannah showed up at his 40th birthday party with a mutual friend. The rest, as they say, is history. Mike, who used to be an aide to Al Gore, now owns a very successful New York/ Washington DC based communications firm, and the 45 year old is thrilled to be a dad. On Monday morning, he tweeted:

‘Our hearts (and twitter feeds) are overflowing with joy. Thanks for all of the good wishes from me and @SavannahGuthrie #SavannahSurprises’.

She did a little praying

Savannah says that after the couple got engaged and finally set a date for their wedding, she bought her gown, and started planning. It was then that she found out that she was pregnant. She told viewers that she had been incredibly nervous that her gown wouldn’t fit.

‘We set the wedding date, I bought my dress, and then I found out,’ she said. ‘So I did a little praying… I feel great, and actually I’m so happy to tell the world because I can’t suck in this gut anymore.’

Savannah joked to her cohosts and viewers of the show.

Surprise for all

The wedding was a gorgeous affair, and took place “in the middle of the desert” outside of Savannah’s hometown of Tuscon, Arizona. In attendance were her Today Show co-stars, including Al Roker, Matt Lauer, Natalie Morales, Willie Geist, Chuck Todd, Hoda Kotb and more. Even rocker Jon Bon Jovi and wife Dorthea were in attendance. Mike and Bon Jovi became close friends while Mike worked for Al Gore. Savannah’s older brother, Lieutenant Colonel Camron Guthrie of the Vermont Air National Guard, walked her down the aisle. Savannah was a beautiful bride, and the whole wedding was gorgeous.

“At one point after the ceremony, the sun was setting on one side, the other, we’re talking about a full moon. It was beautiful,”

Savannah’s cohost Al Roker revealed. Everyone on hand at the ceremony had already conspired to keep the wedding a big secret, but little did they know, they were the ones about to be in for a big surprise.

A very “Special Report”

After the wedding, the guests moved onto a beautiful candlelight reception, where Savannah and Mike prepared to make a toast. Suddenly, the “NBC News Special Report” music began to play. Savannah looked at her new husband and said:

‘So, should we break some news? Okay. I – we – are four months pregnant.’

The small gathering of guests, about 80 to 90 people, jumped to their feet, and the entire place erupted into thunderous applause and cheers upon hearing the news. It truly was a joyful moment. Savanna recently told Elle Magazine that she was hoping to have children. :

‘I would love to have kids. I hope so, if we’re lucky and blessed, but who knows what life holds, you know? I’m 41 years old.’

she told the magazine. Savannah and Mike plan to honeymoon in April.
