Missed Period Mean No Ovulation?

Many women assume that when they are trying to get pregnant, if they miss their period without being pregnant, this must mean that they are not ovulating. However, this is not always the case. There are several different reasons that a woman might not get her period, and not ovulating is only one of them. Read on to learn more about some of the most common reasons that a woman can miss a period. Claim Your 20 Free Pregnancy Tests – Click Here

A woman is not ovulating

Of course, not ovulating is one of the reasons that a woman might miss her period. When no egg is released, there should not technically be any period for that month. However, many times a woman who does not ovulate has some bleeding or spotting even when she does not ovulate. If a woman is not also actively tracking her ovulation via basal body temperature, cervical mucus, or ovulation predictor kit, she might assume that this is her normal period and never even notice that she is actually not ovulating at all.

A woman is pregnant

Of course, pregnancy is one of the other reasons that a woman might not get her period! If she is actively trying to conceive, this is great news! If a woman hasn’t gotten her period, she should take a pregnancy test to see if she could be pregnant. If the pregnancy test is negative, it could be an indication that another underlying problem is keeping her from getting her period.

A woman exercises excessively

Another, more uncommon cause for a woman to stop having her menstrual period can be due to excessive exercise or weight loss. Prolonged strenuous exercise or excessive weight loss can have an effect on the ovulatory cycle of a woman’s body, causing her hormones to be suppressed. This problem is usually reversed when a woman halts the exercise program that is causing the problem, and her body will usually return to normal.

A woman is extremely stressed

Of course, we all know that stress can negatively impact the body in a number of ways. One of those ways is by affecting normal ovulation and menstruation. Extreme stress or emotional turmoil can take a toll on the body, and can cause women to stop menstruating normally. Fortunately, once a woman learns to manage her stress, her periods often return to normal and it will then be easier for her to track her ovulation using either a BBT, an OPK or fertility gadgets.

A woman is having drug interactions

There are a few drugs or medications that can affect a woman’s ovulation and menstrual cycles. Some examples of these drugs are steroids or oral contraceptives. These drugs can have an effect on the menstrual cycle since they affect the body’s hormones.
