KeKe Palmer Cast as Chili in New TLC Movie

It’s Official

It’s official! The cast of VH1’s biopic made for TV movie based on the lives of pop/hip hop group TLC has been announced, and it’s none other than teen starlet KeKe Palmer who will be playing Rozonda “Chili” Thomas. Claim Your 20 Free Pregnancy Tests – Click Here

KeKe will join Lil Mama from America’s Best Dance crew (who is playing Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes), and Drew Sidora from Step Up/The Game/ Wild Hogs (playing Tionne “TBoz” Watkins) for the full length TV movie. Keke, who rose to fame in such teen hits as True Jackson VP, Joyful Noise, and Akeela And The Bee, is super excited to play Chili in the biopic, as she is a true TLC fan.

What Keke Says

In a recent interview with FanMail, KeKe says: “I would sing ‘No Scrubs’ over and over again to the point my parents would have to tell me to stop, but I never did, I had my little hairbrush as my mic and nobody could tell me I wasn’t the fourth member of TLC. I am a true fan,” she says. “I love these ladies and I always want to be proud of my work in any role that I do.”

Not Everyone Is Happy

We think that KeKe is going to make a great Chili, but not everyone is so sure. Ever since the announcement was made, fans of the group have been lashing out, saying that the actresses that were picked look nothing like the singers, and criticizing everything from their hair to their skin tones.

Keke Fires Back

Keke was having none of it. She fired back last week on Twitter: “People kill me, I don’t remember Angela Bassett looking ANYTHING like Tina Turner. And she RIPPED that role, ? People need to realize that movies aren’t casted by people looking like who they’re playing. They’re casted by who can do the role.

I don’t know about you, but I would much rather see a movie that is well acted, then a movie with a bunch of look a like’s. Cause Ben Affleck isn’t even Hispanic, but the man he played in Argo IS. I shouldn’t play the part because my baby hair isn’t the perfect texture? Goodnight Twitter, goodnight.”

Executive Producers

You tell ’em girl! The two surviving TLC members, Chili and TBoz have signed on to be Executive Producers of the film, and to work as consultants to make sure everything is right. The TLC biopic begins filming in Atlanta next month, and we can’t wait to see the movie!
