If you are having troubles getting pregnant, tracking your ovulation is a big deal and is key to knowing when to time sex to increase your chances. Typically, ovulation occurs right around two weeks after your menstrual period, but this time frame can vary from woman to woman. You can use one of several different means to determine when ovulation is occurring. There are ways to chart your basal body temperature, there are ways to track your cervical mucus, there are even over the counter ovulation test kits that are much like over the counter home pregnancy tests.
For the most part, there are only somewhere between 5-7 days that a woman can get pregnant each month.
