How Long after Contracting Genital Herpes do Symptoms Occur?

Genital herpes is a common virus that is also a sexually transmitted disease. It is estimated that nearly a million people develop the infection annually. This infection can also be spread when contact is made with lesions, genital or oral secretions and mucosal surfaces of someone with the condition. Claim Your 20 Free Pregnancy Tests – Click Here

Symptoms of the infection may be mild enough where they go unnoticed or could be mistaken for other skin conditions. In fact, the majority of people who have genital herpes do not even know about the infection.

When symptoms surface, they will usually appear as vesicles around the mouth, rectum or genitals. Eventually, these vesicles will break and cause painful ulcers. These ulcers will take three to four weeks to heal. It is common for those with genital herpes to have multiple outbreaks after the first outbreak that they experience.

After a person comes in contact with herpes, it usually takes about 4 to 7 days before the symptoms will begin to surface. Along with the sores, it is also possible for flu like symptoms to surface during the outbreak as well. While there is no cure for genital herpes, it is possible to treat outbreaks when they do occur.
