Which Pregnancy Snacks Are Good For You?

Pregnancy snacks are very important for a number of reasons. This is because you may be experiencing morning sickness, may be nauseated and may even be vomiting. This is why you should consider eating good pregnancy snacks that provide you with the required energy so that you are fit. You may vomit even after having snacks but your body will gain some energy at least. You should always have snacks at your disposal to eat them as and when you want to.

Make sure you don’t go for unhealthy snacks such as junk food, though! Junk food can be really harmful for your baby. Eat only nutritious foods such as those mentioned here.

Peanut butter toast or bagel

One large spoon of peanut butter on a bagel or a toast is a great idea! You will fulfill your hunger pang and you will take in loads of nutrients including healthy fats, protein, and fiber. This will also satisfy you if you are having a craving for salt. One thing to keep in mind here is to choose whole grain bread instead of white bread.


Yogurt has lots of calcium and protein. This is why you should definitely include low fat dairy in your diet. Eat it as a snack and you will feel full and healthy. Don’t go buying flavored yogurt though because it will have a lot of sugar. Buy only plain yogurt. If you want, you can add fruits and nuts to make it delicious. Chop some nuts and add them to your yogurt along with some peaches or berries based on your likes. This will make a nutrient packed snack for you, which is yummy and healthy.

Air popped popcorn

The normal popcorn is of course unhealthy but that is not the only way to make popcorn. If you prepare it properly, you will be able to have it as a good pregnancy snack. Don’t go for microwave popcorn and flavored popcorn. Go for air popped popcorn at home. For flavor, add some cheese. Don’t add salt. Add Italian seasoning instead.


Eating fruits is a must during pregnancy but you can easily get bored of eating them all the time. Try some variety and go with a fruit smoothie once in a while. For example, take half a banana and 2 cups of fresh fruit. Blend them together and then add some low fat yogurt. Blend again so that you have a smooth smoothie. Add ice cubes if you want!

Mini pizza

Create a mini-pizza that is healthy and filling. Take English muffin halves and top them with pizza sauce. Then add low fat mozzarella cheese along with some spinach, peppers, and mushrooms. Lastly, add some Italian seasoning and then bake it so that it is crispy. This snack is full of protein and fiber. You will be satisfied with your snack, too!


Other good pregnancy snacks include eggs, apples, milk, whole grains, quesadilla, and so on. Remember to keep away from junk food. It will do you no good at all.
