When it comes to fertility drugs for ovulation, Clomid is the most popular drug of choice, and has been for many years. However, there is another fertility drug on the horizon that is poised to creep up on Clomid and potentially take over the market as the fertility drug of choice. That drug is Femara, also known as Letrozole. Read on to learn more about this new and exciting drug. Claim Your 20 Free Ovulation Tests – Click Here
Femara, also known as Letrozole, is a relatively new fertility medication. Like Clomid, Femara is an oral medication that is taken for around 5 days during the beginning of a woman’s cycle. Much like Clomid, Femara can stimulate ovulation in a woman and sometimes can cause multiple eggs to be released as well.
Femara is also sometimes used to treat with women with breast cancer, which is very interesting. One of the perks of Femara is that it has a very short lifespan in the body, and is completely out of the system within just a few days. Clomid sometimes has the ability to remain in the body for awhile, which is not a good thing.
Some women who do not respond to Clomid actually respond quite well to Femara, so it is being touted as a good alternative in many cases. Many women online indicate that when Clomid did not work for them, or caused negative side effects, Femara was able to help them get pregnant easily, and side effects were almost nonexistent.
There have been some very promising studies recently that indicate that Femara is a great choice for fertility issues, and potentially better than Clomid. A recent study was done by Penn State University, claims that Femara might actually be the better choice when it comes to inducing ovulation.
It seems that Femara is actually better at inducing ovulation, with fewer risks. In a study of 750 women with PCOS, half received Femara and half received Clomid. 62% of women in the Femara test group began ovulating, compared to only 48% of the Clomid group.
The Femara group also ended up with 28% of women having a successful pregnancy, and only 19% of the Clomid group having a successful pregnancy. More research is definitely going to be required on this subject, but as far as it looks now, Femara could possibly end up being a very good alternative to Clomid.
The cost is comparable as well, and fewer women reported side effects with Femara. It will be very interesting to see if Femara eventually replaces Clomid as the fertility drug of choice.
