Common Causes of Fertility Problems in Women

Fertility problems are more common than you think. While getting pregnant is easy for some, there are many others who struggle to get pregnant and infertility issues fail them. The problem may lie in the man or the woman and in about half of the couples that are unable to conceive, the female is infertile. In simple words, infertility may be explained as the failure to conceive a baby after attempting for more than a year. About 10% of the women have troubles with fertility and there are numerous different reasons behind this. Sometimes, the reason is simply not known. Endometriosis

In this condition, the endometrial tissue is found outside the uterus. In normal cases though, this tissue is present within the uterine lining. In endometriosis, it may grow in the pelvic region or the abdominal region causing difficulty in conceiving. More often than not, this condition comes with no warning signals or symptoms. In some cases though, the woman may experience pain during sex and/or menstruation. Pelvic pain is also a common symptom for some. Surgery is the answer to this problem. The tissue is either removed or sperm is injected surgically through artificial insemination.

Ovulation problems

When do you ovulate? This is such a key question in getting pregnant, and for some, the answer is elusive. There are some women who fail to ovulate all together and there are some who ovulate very irregularly. Such problems are caused due to the hormones. Absence of period is not a must. Some women go through their menstrual cycle normally without ovulating at all. Ovulation problems can be overcome by using clomid medication and these women can get pregnant. Another way to get pregnant is IVF or in vitro fertilization.

Problem with the egg

Some women have abnormal eggs. These eggs may fertilize but sustaining the pregnancy is not possible. This condition is common in older women. With age, the quality of eggs goes down. That is why it is recommended to have babies at an earlier age. Women with bad quality eggs have very few options if they want to get pregnant. They may go for IVF but they will need a female donor.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

PCOS or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is actually a very common cause of infertility in women. This syndrome can cause numerous problems such as conception delays to miscarriages. This condition may also cause numerous problems during pregnancy. The first and classic sign of PCOS is the absence of periods. Some may have periods but they are very irregular. This condition can however be solved with medication. Clomid is an ideal choice. Metformin is also a medication that has proved to be successful in regulating ovulation.

Blocked fallopian tubes

If the fallopian tube is damaged or blocked due to some reason, the sperm will not be able to reach the egg. This problem should be taken care of surgically.

These are the more common fertility female problems. There are many more problems that cause female fertility. If you have been trying for over a year to get pregnant, you should talk to the doctor and take a few fertility tests to find out the reason so that you treat it accordingly.
