So, when it comes to your ovulation time, is it better to have sex every day, or every other day? Read on to find out what the best frequency is for sex when you are trying to conceive.

The timing must be right

When you are trying to conceive, it’s no secret that sex becomes a science. Gone are the days of spontaneous, romantic rendezvous, and gone are the days of “I’m too tired,” or “I have a headache.” Yes, when baby making is the game, sex is no longer optional. It becomes a science, and sometimes, even a chore. You have to plan sex to coincide with your ovulation dates so you will have the best chance of getting pregnant. The more, the merrier!

The answer is pretty obvious as to which is better for conceiving. It all boils down to basic science. The more sex you have in the ovulation period, the greater the chance of conceiving will be. That is all there is to it. If you have sex once in your ovulation period, you will have a small chance of getting pregnant. Have sex twice, your chances are a little greater. If you have sex every other day while you are fertile, you will have a pretty good chance of getting pregnant. However, for the very best chance of getting pregnant, a couple should have regular sex every day for the 5-6 fertile days leading up to ovulation, and on the day of ovulation as well. Having sex every day during your ovulation window will give you the best chance of getting pregnant. That means every day for your 5-6 fertile days, and then again on ovulation day. Doctors also recommend sex every 2-3 days during the other days of your cycle as well.

Sex every other day?

There has been some conflicting information put out in the past. Doctors used to tell women to only have sex every other day during their ovulation window, so that the male could “build up” enough sperm, but that is no longer recommended.

Sex every day!

Strangely enough, doctors now recommend that sex be had every day during the ovulation period, which is the opposite of what they used to recommend! The experts say that “frequent ejaculation improves the quality of sperm by reducing the length of time they are exposed to potentially damaging molecules called reactive oxygen species in the testicular ducts.” Whatever that means! Apparently now having sex every day improves sperm quality! Oh well, we are sure that your partner won’t mind a little more sex, right!?! If you have questions about how often you should have sex in your particular case, make sure to ask your doctor just to make sure.

You don’t want to have sex the moment your period ends. Look for signs coming within your body i.e. rise in body temp, increased cervical mucus and so on. As soon as you see the signs of ovulation then have sex once a day if your partner is fertile and has no issues.
