When you see your fertility doctor for your initial fertility check-up, your doctor will usually do some simple blood tests to determine your FSH levels. Claim Your 20 Free Pregnancy Tests – Click Here
One of these simple blood tests is known as the Day 2 FSH Levels Test. It is a test that determines the levels of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) in your blood. This test is the one that can help doctors see what your ovarian reserve is. Your ovarian reserve is the remaining number of healthy eggs in your body. As the name suggests, the Day 3 FSH Levels Test is usually done on the third day of your menstrual cycle, although some doctors do this test on days two through five also. The purpose of the Day 3 FSH Levels test is to determine a baseline number of your FSH levels before any sort of treatment is started. This way you can see if you need to raise your FSH levels, lower them, or keep them the same.
The test is easy, just like any other simple blood test where blood from your arm is drawn and used for lab testing. The Day 3 FSH test is usually the very first test that is done for fertility treatments. It might be a bit uncomfortable, but is generally painless. The blood will be tested so that you can know your FSH levels. FSH is the hormone that tells the eggs that it is time to grow and mature. If you have really high levels of FSH in your blood, it may mean that you have poor ovarian reserve or problems with your egg reserves. Low levels of FSH can mean that you might have a problem with your pituitary glands. There are also a few other hormones that are measured during your Day 3 testing, such as LH, Prolactin, and Estradiol.
Your Day 3 FSH Levels Test will determine the baseline levels of all of these hormones in your blood. It will give your fertility doctors a good idea of what is going on inside your body so that they can get a clearer picture. Your doctor can use these test results to determine the number of eggs you have remaining, and it can be a good test to determine a starting point for fertility treatments. Don’t be worried about your Day 3 FSH Levels test. It is just the starting point on your fertility journey, and it will be able to give you a clearer look at what is actually going on in your body!
