Clive Davis Claims Michael Jackson Sabotaged Jermaine’s Career

Clive Davis on the headlines

Oh, Clive Davis. The music guru has been making headlines for weeks now since his tell-all memoir was released. First, we were all talking about his bisexual confessions, then his feud with American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson, after he allegedly insulted her and called her a “Sh—- songwriter” when they worked together. Now, we’re talking about him again. This time, about how he says The King of Pop sabotaged his brother Jermaine’s career. Claim Your 20 Free Pregnancy Tests – Click Here

Davis and the Jacksons in the 80’s

Davis says that when he signed Jermaine Jackson back in the 80’s, his brother Michael was not happy. When Clive hired Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds and LA Reid to produce Jermaine’s fourth album, apparently Michael was not having any of it.

Michael spent all of his time keeping Edmonds busy with his own projects, so that he couldn’t focus on Jermaine’s. Jermaine couldn’t believe that Michael, his close brother, would hijack his producers’ material this way,” Davis wrote. At a dinner in Paris, Davis said Jermaine was “crying, indeed sobbing at times, so deeply hurt that his brother would do this to him.”

The song “Word to the Badd”

That’s when Jermaine decided to get his revenge. That is when we wrote “Word to the Badd,” slamming his brother, calling him selfish and shallow. After that, Michael blew up and demanded that Clive make Jermaine remove the song from his album.

Davis said that he wasn’t comfortable with getting in the middle of that family drama. “I felt it would be wrong for me to tell an artist to take a song off an album,” Davis wrote. “This was a family and personal matter that they would need to resolve themselves.”

“Word to the Badd” was a stab at Michael, and it was in no way, shape or form a secret. The songs lyrics were blatantly attacking the King of Pop, criticizing him for his plastic surgery and changing his skin color. While the lyrics were very controversial and hurtful to Michael, later a “watered down” version of the song was released to the public. Some are dispelling the credibility of the story that Davis tells in his memoir, but it does line up with the story that Michael Jackson’s long time PR guy told in the book he co-wrote as well.

“You are Not Alone: Michael, Through a Brother’s Eyes”

Even now, almost four years after Michael’s death, it is still hard for Jermaine to talk about. He says that he misses Michael every day, and finds it hard to perform without him around. Jermaine also wrote his own book called “You Are Not Alone: Michael, Through a Brother’s Eyes“, which he says is the only real true story of Michael’s life, since it was written by someone who lived it with him.
