Why is ovulation important?

When you are trying to get pregnant, the most important thing to keep track of is ovulation. Ovulation is the release of the egg, that, when fertilized, can become a baby! Claim Your 20 Free Pregnancy Tests – Click Here

When does ovulation occur?

Ovulation happens at around day fourteen of a woman’s menstrual cycle, but the exact time frame varies from person to person. After ovulation occurs and the egg is released, it can be fertilized for up to 48 hours. After that, if the egg is not fertilized, it begins to die and disintegrate.

This is why knowing when you are ovulating is so important, since it is the time that you will be able to get pregnant. Technically speaking, the few days leading up to ovulation, the day of ovulation, and around the day or two days after ovulation, are the only times during a woman’s cycle that she is able to get pregnant.

Fertile periods

A woman’s most fertile period during her cycle is right around ovulation. To be more precise, the four to five days before ovulation, and the one to two days following ovulation, is considered to be a woman’s “fertile period”.

This is the time frame in which she has the greatest chance of getting pregnant. Since sperm can live longer than the egg, it is advisable for a woman to have sex right before ovulation, or even on the day of ovulation for the best chance of getting pregnant. This is because the sperm can live up to five days in a woman’s body.

If a woman has sex right before ovulation, or even on the day of ovulation, this ensures that the sperm will be ready and waiting for the egg to be released, and the egg will have the best chance of becoming fertilized. Having sex on ovulation day or just prior to ovulation day is the time that most doctors recommend for ensuring the highest chances of becoming pregnant. There are ways to track your fertile days. The most commons one are using an opk, a BBT thermometer and online ovulation tracking.

More sex during ovulation

Most doctors and fertility experts agree that having sex multiple times during ovulation and just prior to ovulation will increase a couple’s chances of becoming pregnant. Each time you have sex during your fertile window is a better chance that you will become pregnant during that month.

Unless your doctor tells you otherwise (sometimes this is not a good idea for men with known sperm issues), having more sex during ovulation is usually a good idea! Now that you know when the best chances are to get pregnant, you will have better luck when trying to have a baby!
