When a girl gets her first period, she is usually in no mood for celebrating her menstrual cycle. Most of the time a girl’s first period is seen as a curse rather than a blessing, especially when the girl is young. Claim Your 20 Free Pregnancy Tests – Click Here
When a young girl first gets her period, her main concern is usually trying to hide it and make sure that no one else knows! When you are younger, a period is seen as an annoyance, something to get in the way of your daily life, and just another thing you have to worry about and plan for.
No young girl who has just gotten her first period wants to hear about “Welcome to the club!” or “Now you are becoming a woman!” They just want to get it over with and have the awkward and uncomfortable feelings go away.
There are companies now who help plan “first period” parties, complete with “first period” gift bags, party favors, and the works! If I would have been surprised with one of these “parties” when I was a young girl just getting my period, I would have been mortified beyond belief! I am sure that some girls are excited about the idea, but I know I would not have been!
As we get older, periods are still met with that same annoyance and dread, but maybe a bit less so. That is because, even though you don’t really “want” your period, once it arrives, you know you aren’t pregnant, and there are no unplanned pregnancies to worry about.
It seems like as a young woman you spend so much time worrying about getting your period and preventing pregnancy, and then all of a sudden your plans and priorities start to shift, and suddenly you are ready for a baby. Then everything starts to change, and you are once again hoping that your period doesn’t arrive. Only this time, it’s because you hope you ARE pregnant.
What a funny thing, isn’t it? It seems like most of us go on a roller coaster of emotions when it comes to our periods, from hating that we even got one in the first place, to being grateful for it to come when we didn’t want to be pregnant, to being sad when it arrives when we are trying for a baby.
When you are trying to conceive, it seems like your period comes back as your age old arch nemesis again! We all just have to keep in mind that the menstrual cycle is a part of our life cycle, and without it we would never be able to get pregnant in the first place! We all just have to keep our heads up and know that the only real way to get to where we want to be is to keep trying!
