Can You Get Pregnant with No Period?

Getting pregnant with period problems

Many women do not have regular menstrual periods, for a variety of reasons. Some women have underlying issues that cause their periods to be nonexistent or irregular. However, most women don’t realize that even if their periods are irregular or very spaced out, that they can still get pregnant. It might be a little bit harder to get pregnant if you have issues with your periods, but that doesn’t mean that it is impossible or that it can not happen in your particular case. The cause of missing periods

One of the biggest things that will determine how hard (or easy!) it is for you to get pregnant with irregular periods is the cause of your period issues. For example, some women who exercise a ton have issues where they stop having periods. These women should be able to alter their exercise routine and then their periods should resume. Other women who don’t get a balanced diet and suffer from some degree of malnutrition can also experience missed periods. These women should be able to resume their normal menstrual cycles by adjusting their diets. However, some women experience missed periods due to anovulation. This is when missed periods can actually affect the ability to conceive. The most important thing that you can do when you are trying to conceive is to determine why you aren’t having regular periods. Seeing a doctor can help with this.

Seeing a Doctor is important

As we mentioned before, seeing a doctor before trying to conceive is very important. Your doctor will be able to tell you exactly what the reasons are for your period issues, and he or she will be able to give you tips as to how to make conceiving easier. Your doctor will likely run some simple blood tests to determine whether or not you are ovulating even though your periods are not regular. If the blood work determines that you are indeed ovulating, and you are under 35, your doctor will most likely advise you to keep trying on your own for a while. However, if you are not ovulating, you might be referred on to a fertility specialist in order to get some more assistance.

What to remember

It’s important not to get discouraged when trying to conceive with irregular periods. Please realize that things might be a little bit harder for you to get pregnant, and it might take a little bit longer. However, there are many women out there who get pregnant without having regular periods, so don’t get frustrated. It may take awhile or some extra steps, but it is totally possible!
