Can I Get Pregnant During My Period?

The chances of a woman getting pregnant while on her period are very slim. It is possible, but very, very unlikely. Women are only fertile during the ovulation period of their cycle. For most women, this is near the middle of her cycle, between day 12 and day 15, usually. However, it is physically possible for a woman to get pregnant during her period, if several things occur. Here are some of the most common reasons that women get pregnant during their period. Claim Your 20 Free Pregnancy Tests – Click Here

Short/long menstrual cycle

If a woman has a very short menstrual cycle, or on the opposite end of the spectrum, a very long menstrual cycle, either of those cases could make it possible for a woman to get pregnant during her period. This is because the time of ovulation with a very short cycle or a very long cycle could line up with the time that a woman is bleeding. It is unlikely, but it is possible that it could happen. It would be very uncommon for this to occur, but it is not to say that it couldn’t happen. The possibility is there.

Sperm life

Remember that sperm can live for up to five days in your body. This is important because even though a woman might have unprotected sex during her period, she may still get pregnant. If she ovulates within four to five days after her period, there is a chance that the sperm could still be alive. Since sperm live for such an extended period of time in the body, this gives women another possibility to get pregnant during their period. Again, the chance of this happening is pretty rare, but it technically could occur.

Ovulation spotting

Some women have ovulation spotting, or red or brown spotting, right before they ovulate. Sometimes this can be mistaken as a woman starting her period. Ovulation spotting, believe it or not, is actually the perfect conditions for sperm to thrive in. If a woman has sex while she has ovulation spotting, thinking that it is her period, it is possible for her to get pregnant. Most women are able to tell the difference in ovulation spotting and their actual period, but if someone wasn’t able to tell, you could easily get pregnant on what you think is your “period”.
