Timing Sex to Get Pregnant

If you're trying to get pregnant, timing sex at the time of ovulation is key. Occurring only once each cycle, ovulation will give you a fertile window of just 2-4 days each month.

If you are planning to conceive, you probably already know that timing sex to get pregnant can significantly increase your chances of making your dream come true. The most fertile days are considered to be the three to five days before ovulation takes place. But how can you determine when ovulation occurs? According to many doctors, ovulation takes place in the 14th day of the menstrual cycle. Things are not that simple, though, especially when having an irregular menstrual cycle. However, most women ovulate somewhere between the 10th day and the 20th of the menstrual cycle. Claim Your 20 Free Pregnancy Tests – Click Here

Here are the most common methods to determine when ovulation takes place.

Determine your basal body temperature

Charting your basal body temperature is not very complicated, but it requires time. There are charts you can acquire to record the body temperature and there are also websites that can help you determine the ovulation period. There are 3 important rules you need to follow when taking your basal body temperature:

Do it at the same time every morning;

Do it right after you wake up, without getting up;

Do it only after at least four hours of sleep.

Pay attention to cervical mucus

If the cervical mucus changes its color and consistency, your chances of getting pregnant are higher than in any other day. Egg white cervical mucus is the most fertile and alerts you about the occurring of ovulation. The cervical mucus is not only useful in predicting ovulation, but it also helps the sperm by creating a friendly environment for it. While checking for fertile cervical mucus, you should also check the cervical position, another factor used in detecting ovulation.

When to have sex

The ideal time to have sex should not be limited to the several days of ovulation. It has been accounted that more than 10 days of abstinence may result in a decrease in sperm quality and quantity. Therefore, while you calculate and wait for the most fertile period, your spouse’s sperm may not be as fertile as you expect it to be. Moreover, if you reduce sex to this period, it will become unnatural and stressful, affecting your personal life. Keep in mind that sex is more than a means to get pregnant, more than an act of procreating. It is an act of love and self-giving.
