Kristin Cavallari Didn't Vaccinate Son Camden, Fears Autism

I’ve read too many books about autism and there’s some scary statistics out there. It’s our personal choice, you know, and if you’re really concerned about your kid, then get them vaccinated and it shouldn’t be a problem.

Controversial beliefs

She just might be regretting the fact that she went public with this information. A very pregnant Kristin Cavallari, a la “The Hills” fame, went on the Fox Business show “The Independents” on Thursday, March 13 and spoke up about how she isn’t vaccinating her kids. Her reason? It causes autism, she says. Her son Camden is now 18 months old and she is expecting another little boy with hubby Jay Cutler in the very near future. Claim Your 20 Free Pregnancy Tests – Click Here

What she said

“You know what, I’ve read too many books about autism,”

Cavallari, 27, began.

“There is a pediatric group called Homestead or, shoot, Homestead or Home First — now I have pregnancy brain, I got them confused — but they’ve never vaccinated any of their children and they’ve never had one case of autism. And now, one in 88 boys is autistic, which is a really scary statistic.”

the show’s host, former MTV VJ Kennedy (Lisa Kennedy Montgomery) argued back:

“Well, my mom vaccinated us, and she doesn’t have any cases of autism either.. Isn’t that weird?”

“But the vaccinations have changed over the years,” Cavallari replied. “There’s more mercury and other [stuff]…”

The backlash

You can only imagine the social media firestorm that those comments instigated, and K-Cav took some time to clarify her position the next day, in an interview with Fox and Friends. When asked how the response had been to her very controversial comments, the former reality star revealed that it had been quite shocking.

“It is a harsh response. You know, it’s not something that I publicly wanted to come out and say. I was in an interview and it came up, and it wasn’t what I was expecting.

She continued:

“But, you know, listen, to each their own. I understand both sides of it. I’ve read too many books about autism and there’s some scary statistics out there. It’s our personal choice, you know, and if you’re really concerned about your kid, then get them vaccinated and it shouldn’t be a problem.”

Her final say

A few days later, when the media firestorm still had not died down, Kristin was forced to talk about her comments once again. On Tuesday, March 18, Kristin appeared on “Watch What Happens Live”, and host Andy Cohen had some tough questions for her.

“We got a lot of questions, Kristin, about your stand on vaccines,”

host Andy Cohen told her.

“Kat George wants to know, ‘How can you knowingly support the spread of potentially deadly diseases by not vaccinating your children?’

Kristin was quick to reply.

“Here’s the thing: At the end of the day, I’m just a mom. I’m trying to make the best decision for my kid. There are very scary statistics out there regarding what is in vaccines and what they cause — asthma, allergies, ear infections, all kinds of things. And we feel like we’re making the best decision for our kids.”
