Vaginal ph

The vaginal environment is not ideal for a sperm to survive in, as it it acidic and sperm prefer an alkalinic environment. Cervical mucus plays a role to avoid any damage to the sperm due to the vagina’s acidity so that it goes ahead and fertilizes the egg that is in the fallopian tube. The sperm should move away from the vagina as fast as possible so that it does not get affected by the acidic environment and successfully reaches the egg. You can help the sperm move faster by using a fertility pillow. Thus, it is true that a fertility pillow can boost your chances of getting pregnant.

How to use the fertility pillow

All you should do is place the pillow under your pelvis after sex and stay in that position for about half an hour because that is the time taken by the sperm to reach the egg. By doing this you are helping the sperm avoid the vaginal environment and reach the egg quickly. You can of course use any ordinary pillow to do this but using a fertility pillow is more helpful because it is designed to serve this purpose. It is designed to outline the body perfectly and stay in place for the required period of time. A good fertility pillow will have a foam interior and an exterior that is water resistant. You can always remove the outer case and wash it regularly. By using a fertility pillow you will also avoid the hassle of stains because they can be easily wiped out unlike from an ordinary pillow cover.

Remember that this method has not been scientifically proven but there are cases in which this has been helpful. You should especially try using a fertility pillow in the following cases:

If the sperm count and motility are low

If the quality of the sperm is low, it will be harder for the sperm to successfully complete its journey from the vagina to the fallopian tube. You can make things easier for the sperm with a fertility pillow. When you use a fertility pillow, the few sperm that are ejaculated can transfer to the fallopian tube with relative ease.

If you want a boy

If you have no fertility issues but want a baby boy, this is ideal because male sperm are faster than the female. By using a fertility pillow and depositing the sperm closer to the fallopian tube you can increase the chances of the male sperm fertilizing the egg.

If your cervical mucus is hostile

As aforementioned, cervical mucus protects the sperm from the acidity of the vagina. If you have less amounts of cervical fluid, your sperm can be harmed. To avoid that you can use a fertility pillow so that the sperm ducks the vagina and reaches the fallopian tube.
