Soft drinks and sugary sodas

We all know that soda is not the healthiest drink on the planet, but it can actually harm your fertility. A recent Danish study has shown that men who drink at least a quart of soda per day have sperm counts that are on average 30 percent lower than men who don’t drink soda at all. Now that is food (or drink!) for thought!

Soy products

While we usually think of soy products as healthy and good for us, that isn’t always the case when it comes to fertility. Soy products contain something called phyto-estrogens that can negatively affect fertility. It is best to avoid soy products while trying to conceive just to be safe.

Processed foods

We all know that we should try to avoid processed foods in order to keep a healthy weight and improve our overall health, but did you know that processed foods can hurt your chances of getting pregnant as well? Processed foods contain sugars that our bodies do not need, and also a ton of toxins that can wreak havoc on both male and female fertility.

Low fat dairy products

Of course, we often associate low fat products with being “better for you,” but when it comes to dairy and trying to conceive, fatter is better. Our bodies need the fat found in “full fat” dairy products to help ovulate and to stimulate healthy egg production. This is one time to go all out for the full fat versions of your favorite dairy products!

We all know how alcohol can have a negative effect when you are pregnant, but it can also hurt your chances of getting pregnant as well. Women who drink at least one alcoholic beverage per day are more likely not to ovulate at all, have ovulation problems, or have a harder time getting pregnant.

Seafood and fish

Mercury is always a concern when you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant, so steer clear of as much seafood as possible. Your doctor can help you to determine what you should eat and what you should stay away from while trying to conceive.

I have had my hormones tested….I was with a guy for 5 years and two months after we broke up he got another woman pregnant. My fiancé now has 1 son and really wants another! PLEASE HELP!
