False Negative Pregnancy Tests

Am I pregnant or not? Find out about false negative pregnancy tests - when you're pregnant but you get a negative pregnancy test.

A false pregnancy test is an hCG urine pregnancy tests that says that you are not pregnant when, in fact, you are pregnant. hCG is the hormone that is produced in the body by the placenta. It is the “pregnancy hormone”, and it only shows up in the body when you are pregnant. This hormone is what at home urine pregnancy tests use to tell whether or not you are pregnant. However, it is actually pretty common to receive a false negative result on a home pregnancy test. Home pregnancy tests are usually 95%-97% percent accurate, but sometimes a false negative will occur. Here are a few of the reasons why. Claim Your 20 Free Pregnancy Tests – Click Here

Testing too soon

This is the most common reason that some women receive a false negative pregnancy test. At home pregnancy tests detect whether or not hCG is present in your body. Some tests are more sensitive than others, and can detect a smaller amount of hCG. It is possible that by testing too early, your body has not built up a level of hCG that is high enough to be detected by an at home test. If you are testing before your period is due, you might want to wait a few days, and try again.

Improper testing

Using the test improperly can also cause a false negative test in some cases. If the test instructions are not followed properly, the results can not be trusted. Some tests require you to pee on the test directly; while others might have you pee in a cup and dip the test in the cup. Some tests have you pee in a cup and then use the eyedropper to drop the urine onto the test. Following the instructions specific to the test you are using is very important. Also, leaving the test sitting out for too long following the test can lead to false negative results. It is very important to check the test results within the allotted time frame that the instructions will tell you, or else the test in considered invalid.

Problems with a pregnancy

While testing too soon and improper testing account for almost all false negative at home pregnancy tests, there is a possibility that a false negative test can indicate a problem with a pregnancy. If you receive a positive test, and then a few days later receive a negative test, it can indicate a problem such as ectopic pregnancy, chemical pregnancy, or miscarriage. If you receive different or varying test results, it is always imperative that you see a doctor and find out what is going on.

I feel kicking in my stomach, and also the pain associated with womb growing.  I have gained weight and have not really changed diet.  I took a home pregnancy test and it came back negative.  Are there any drugs that would interfere with the test.  I currently have mirena, but it is 4 years old.  My breasts are super sensitive and have white dots on them.  I have been pregnant before and know how it feels to have kicking, etc,  can you please let me know if any pescription drugs wound intefere with an at home pregnancy test.  I do take prescription drugs which include opiates (lortab 10/5,  musle relaxers soma 350. xanax 2mg and seroquel 150 xr for bipolar diesease,  I have takens gabapentin 100mg 2 x day, and have tried and have had bad side effects from lamictal 25mg, and trileptal150mg x2)  A friend checked my stomach today and felt the kicking and also a limb of a baby.  she listened to stomach and thought she heard heartbeat.. she thought there may be twins or a very long baby.  It would help me greatly if you could let me know if any of these drugs would cause a false negative on a pregnancy test?

Possible reasons for a faint pregnancy test are either you tested earlier or later. Another thing is that, your urine might be too diluted. You may take the test after your period is late because this is the best time to check if you are pregnant or not. Let say your cycle is 21 days, then you may take the test on day 28th or later.

Apparently, there are no medications that can particularly influence the results of your medical tests. However; it is advised that you take a home pregnancy test when not under the influence of narcotic drugs such as opiates. In order for you to have an accurate result, it is best that you immediately get a blood pregnancy test done for you to effectively confirm if you’re pregnant or not.

Knowing that your pregnancy test has displayed a negative result, you most likely are not pregnant. However; you should try to take another pregnancy test 14 days after the first day that you have missed your period for a consistent result. I suggest that you should try to consult your ObGyne for a check-up and ultrasound in order to particularly detect what causes the sensations in your stomach.

You can not hear the baby’s heart beat without the proper tools. She must have heard yours and proper prenatal care is imperative to the health of any unborn child. Please go to a dr as some of the pills you mentioned are noted in the medical community as causing birth defects. I wish you all the best.

So I am 21 and have never been to my gyno. Well my periods have always been pretty regular, but now I am officially 6 days late. I’ve taken two at home pregnancy tests and both came out negative. What could be the cause of this.?

Taking the test at this time may be too early, if you are pregnant your hCG levels is not enough to confirm a positive result. You should take another pregnancy test 2 weeks after your missed period and first thing in the morning for a more reliable result.

I’ve always been fairly regular. It took over a year to conceive my 1st son, & then we conceived our 2nd the first time we “tried.” In August we decided to try for #3, & now I’m 2 months late. 5 at-home tests AND a blood test from the doctor all turned up negative. I’m not having many symptoms, but I didn’t with my first 2 either. Is there any chance I’m pregnant anyway & all the tests are wrong?

Me and my husband have not been trying but we’re not not trying. We’re now 11 days late but are still getting negative results. I am always regular on my cycle. How long do I have to wait to get a positive if I am? The dr will not make an appointment until I am due for my next cycle.
