Drugs to Induce Ovulation

Ovulation is the key to conception. For those suffering from ovulatory dysfunction, there are many drugs on the market meant to induce ovulation.

Having normal ovulation is necessary for a woman to get pregnant. Although in most of cases, this process takes place every month without any delays or complications, there are still cases when drugs to induce ovulation are needed in order to stimulate the production and release of healthy eggs. Since there is such a wide scope for medications to assist in inducing ovulation, it is advisable to ask your doctor for advice, and for the two of you to establish together what the most recommended treatment for your particular problem is. Besides, it is important that you benefit from specialized supervision throughout the treatment.

Here are the top 5 medicines that help ovulation, most of them only available with a prescription:

Clomid

One of the most commonly used drug for stimulating the production and release of eggs is Clomid, based on clomiphene citrate. The pills should be administered on the first days of the menstrual period. The dose should be established by your doctor, according to the particulars of your body. The clomiphene citrate stimulates the brain to release a hormone called FSH that plays an important role in increasing fertility. Although a careful administration excludes side effects, you have a higher chance to get pregnant with twins or even triplets.

Bromocriptine

Bromocriptine is a medicine used to reduce the level of the hormone called prolactin, known to prevent ovulation when present in your blood in a higher than normal quantity. By reducing prolactin levels, you have a better chance of naturally ovulating.

Gonadotropins

Many women prefer the treatment with gonadotropin as a solution to become pregnant rapidly. This substance comes as injections administered under the skin or intramuscular. It works on the pituitary gland, stimulating it to produce and release the hormones known as LH and FSH that play an important part in the ovulation process. Pergonal and Gonal F are among the best known drugs to induce ovulation from this group. If you decide to follow this type of treatment, you must consult your doctor and make a plan that you have to follow to the letter.

GnRH hormone

In order to produce healthy and fully grown follicles, you can choose to wear a pump that releases small quantities of GnRH hormone directly into your body. However, you must be aware that the presence of this device can create a sensation of discomfort.

Thyroid drugs

Sometimes, fertility in women is heavily influenced by the presence of another medical condition, such as thyroid insufficiency. Some of the drugs prescribed to ease it are also highly effective in improving the ovulation process and the quality of the eggs.

Ovulation (when your body releases an egg) occurs once mid-way through your cycle. Cycle Day 1 begins the first day of your menstrual cycle. So, you are most likely to ovulate around Day 10-14.FertiBella is specifically designed to stimulate ovulation by regulating hormones and normalizing your cycle. In addition to boosting progesterone levels in the pituitary gland and lengthening your luteal phase, FertiBella is virtually unmatched in placing the cervix into a higher, softer, and more open hyperfertile state during ovulation, to maximize your chances of getting pregnant quick & easy.

Menstrual period after an abortion often returns fairly quickly, but some women may not see their menstrual cycle return to normal for several months following the procedure. The reason the period after an abortion may be delayed or irregular is because the body may retain some pregnancy hormones. The body may feel the effects of those hormones for several weeks after the pregnancy is terminated. I would recommend talking to your doctor. Your doctor might be able to give you insight into what went wrong in your previous pregnancy, and give you some tips and fertility treatments for you to get pregnant again. It is always a good idea to speak with a doctor after miscarriage and before you get pregnant again, just to avoid any potential risks. You will have to go through a thorough physical examination. This is very important in order to establish if the uterus or the cervix suffered any damages due to the abortion, and if those lesions lessen your chances to get pregnant.

With either type of OPK, it helps to work out when your fertile period is likely to start. It’s usually the length of your usual cycle minus 17 days. So, if you have a 28-day cycle, start testing on day 11 and carry on for six days.

Congratulations! Since you’re already pregnant, it is best that you regularly visit your doctor for prenatal check-ups in order for you to have a safe and healthy pregnancy. It is also important that you start taking prenatal vitamins and folic acid supplements to help prevent the risk of miscarriages as well as to provide your baby with a healthy development.
