However, when you are pregnant, you need to be specifically cautious of the amount of calcium you are receiving. Because calcium is also important to the growth and development of your baby, you should start by talking to your doctor about taking additional amounts while you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

However, women who are still in their teens when they become pregnant may not have this luxury. Research has not been able to determine if these set of mothers are able to recoup the bone loss that is common during a pregnancy.
