Best Ways to Get Pregnant After Depo

Did you use Depo Provera as contraception but now want to get pregnant? Find out the best ways to get pregnant after Depo.

Depo Provera can be a great contraceptive choice for many women. It allows them to not have to think about contraception on a daily basis, and makes it easy for them to go on about their daily lives without the worry of birth control weighing on their mind. However, many women worry about getting pregnant after depo and wonder if they will have a hard time and if there is anything they can do to increase their chances. It may take up to a year

One important thing to remember is that it can take a long time for Depo Provera to get out of your system. The average time that it takes for Depo to get out of your system is 12 months, and sometimes longer. It does take the body a long time to return to normal after Depo Provera shots, and it takes a long time for the Depo to get out of your system. There is really no way to “rush” the Depo out of your system, and no way to make it happen faster. You just have to give your body enough time to let it happen naturally.

Know your body

Since there is only a small window of time when you can get pregnant each month anyway, it might be helpful for you to learn how to track your ovulation or chart your cycles. This can be helpful in helping you know exactly when you need to have sex in order to get pregnant. There are many websites out there dedicated to help you learn how to track your cycles, and a ton of over the counter ovulation prediction kits available as well.

Talk with your doctor

Talking with your doctor is also a good idea if you are trying to get pregnant after your Depo shots stop. You might be able to have your hormone levels checked to see how they are. Doctors are also a valuable resource in telling you about their experiences and may be a great advocate for helping you in your journey to getting pregnant.

I was on the depo shot for 5 years, stopped them and 3 months later I was pregnant. I had my daughter in 2011, got back on the shots at my 6 week post baby check up. I recently stopped the shots again (8/13) and am wanting to conceive again. I had my first period since stopping the shots last month. I have been trying to track my best days to conceive, which were 2-3 days ago just figuring, today I am cramping and spotting pinkish brownish color. Could this be o spotting or a sign of pregnancy. I know it seems too early to tell.

I was on the depo shot for only two shots and decided to stop. After a month I did have intercourse spotted once after 5 to a week later(don’t remember) and had some cramping since then and now it’s been about 2 months or so and I have side affects still . Very light headed three weeks after I spotted. Some cramping still. Always tired, moody Butterfly feeling in my stomach and a ball feeling also. I do urinate more frequently now nipples have that tingling cold sensation feeling sometimes hurt got a little bigger and much more symptoms. I have felt like puking many times but haven’t. I don’t know if I’m pregnant or just having side affects. I also did bleed through out the whole months of being on the depo does that increase my chances?

I had 3 kids right after the other so my body needed a break so I got on the depo on 01/2011 and I was due for a shot on 1/2013 and In 08/2013 I hadn’t had a period so I went to the doctor and she checked my hormones and said everything looked normal she didn’t know why I wasn’t having periods so she gave me some pills and by the 12th day I was supposed to have a period and I didn’t so I went back and she said lets try putting you on the pill (birth control) to get your cycles in order and the first month I took it I had a period and i’ve had one every month for the past 4 months I only have 25 day cycles and ive been tracking it and im still unable to come out pregnant. is the depo or the pills still in my system? does anyone have advise?

I was on depo for 10years, I missed a shot (off for 3months) and was pregnant! When my son turned 2 I decided to get off depo and try for another child. It has been over a year since I stopped depo-when I had stopped it I spotted twice a month for 4 months…I haven’t had a period or anything since and that was about a year ago. I never had regular periods (usually had 4 a year that lasted few days). I ALWAYS feel pregnant and take at least one test a month, which just sets me up for total disappointment. Why do I have ALL the pregnancy symptoms ALL the time? How long is this going to take before I have another child? Is there anything else I can do to boost my fertility?

I have been on the depo shot for almost 7 years and I am getting married in August. My fiancé and I are “planning” on trying to get pregnant a year after we get married. My last shot will be in June/July and I know it could take up to a year or maybe longer to conceive after stopping the shot. I am however concerned that since I have been on it for so long that it might take much longer for my body to get back to normal and the affects it will have on my hormones because of not having periods almost this entire time. Is there anything that could come from this prolonged exposure that could cause trouble conceiving? Or my biggest worry, being extremely moody while being newly married while my body gets back to normal.

I’ve stopped Depo almost a year ago, and have been trying to concieve for a few months now to no avail. I’ve been getting regular periods about a month after my last injection and have an app to tell me when I’m fertile and ovulating. Could something be wrong, my fiancé and I really want a baby?
